FIRST POWER UP!
During the 2018 "Gamer" competition, "Power Up," our robot had to place milk crates onto a scale or a switch to earn points for the team. The longer the scales were tipped in our favor, the more points we earned. The game started with an autonomous section where the drivers could not control the robot. At the end of the game, each team could climb a bar, and even take another robot with them, for 30 extra points. Teams were also able to bring crates to the driving station earning teams "power ups" that they could use to force the scale, earn an auto climb, and boost the number of points they got. We competed in 2 competitions, UC Davis and San Francisco. Our robot's vision and recognition excelled, earning our team the "Innovation in Control" Award at the UC Davis competition. During the build season we worked especially hard on the robot's intake mechanism to grab the milk crates in order to place them on a scale or switch.
